The Mulvaney Lab located in Washington, DC focuses on studying and therapeutically targeting enzyme-substrate interactions in cancer.

We are seeking a research assistant (lab technician) who is creative, enthusiastic, and motivated for the Mulvaney lab at the Children's National Research and Innovation Center.

The lab's work focuses on signaling pathways in pediatric and adult cancers—with a particular emphasis on therapeutically targeting enzyme vulnerabilities.

Available projects include structurally and biochemically identifying mechanisms of substrate recruitment to methyltransferases, such as PRMT5, and CRISPR screening for combination drug treatments for various tumor types.

Expected start date is Summer 2024.


Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated prior research experience
  • Selfmotivated and passionate about biochemical and cancer research
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to succeed in a fastpaced research environment with multiple concurrent duties
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or coursework in biology, biochemistry, genetics, cellular biology, bioengineering or bioinformatics
  • Experience with tissue culture, western blots, or protein purification
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization in R
