About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.


Position Purpose:

The Program Coordinator, Teen Development at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine is responsible for developing and implementing programs and initiatives to support the holistic development of teenagers aged 12-21 within our communities.

The Program Coordinator, Teen Development will work closely with the Senior Director of Youth Programs to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where teenagers can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

This role will serve as the program operator for our teen programs, including implementing a full range of cause driven and high-quality programming at the Branch level, focused on work force development, leadership & discovery, and college & career readiness.

This position will offer program guidance, access to resources, and leadership within the designated Branch.

The Teen Coordinator will implement curriculum, provide supervision, and serve as liaison between the Branch and the Senior Director of Youth Programs.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist with planning and implementing daily activities in a comprehensive range of programs and activities tailored to meet the developmental needs of teenagers aged 122
  • Support leading participants in successfully completing all aspects of the teen leadership experience.
  • Fosters and sustains mutually beneficial partnerships with various community organizations, including local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with maintaining communication with participants and engages parents as directed. Maintains positive relations with teens, parents, school personnel, and other staff.
  • Assist with supporting program enrollment, data collection, and maintains accurate records.
  • Utilize datadriven insights to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions regarding program enhancements.
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings and training pertinent to teen matters, actively contributing insights, proposing initiatives, and collaborating with stakeholders to address the needs and interests of teenagers.
  • Actively engage in and contribute to special events, program activities, and family nights to enrich the overall experience for teens and foster a sense of community involvement and excitement.
  • Foster an environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and individuals feel empowered to contribute.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to teenagers, fostering their personal growth and development.
  • Supervises teens under the direction of the Program Director, Teen Development. Makes sound decisions in alignment with YMCA and YGBW standards.
  • Serve as an advocate for teen development within the organization and the community, representing the interests and needs of teenagers and advocating for resources and support.
  • Available to work nights and weekends.
  • Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 2 years of experience in a leadership or educational capacity working with teenagers is preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement ageappropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in multitasking and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fastpaced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, showcasing an understanding of cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain an inclusive and safe space for teenagers, fostering an environment where all individuals feel respected, valued, and supported in their personal and developmental journeys.
  • An understanding of behavioral intervention strategies and principles of adolescent development.
