ADEC's services revolve around one mission: Helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities find informed choice and possibility.

We serve more than 1,200 individuals each year through more than a dozen programs, ranging from music therapy for children to supervised group living for adults.


The Position:


The Transition Services Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating transition programs, including ADEC's Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) and Project SEARCH initiatives.

This position involves strategic planning, program development, staff supervision, community collaboration, and ensuring the successful transition of individuals with disabilities into competitive integrated employment.

The Transition Services Manager will maintain a case load with the billing expectation of 50%.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop, implement, and drive growth of comprehensive transition programs for individuals with disabilities, including Pre-ETS and Project SEARCH.
  • Coordinate with schools, vocational rehabilitation agencies, employers, and community partners to identify transition needs, resources, and opportunities.
  • Supervise a team that consists of the Project SEARCH Employment Consultant and Pre-ETS Transition Consultants, including interviewing and hiring, providing guidance, training, collaboration, coordination of program activities, reviewing and approving work schedules, completing performance evaluations and disciplining or terminating employment when required.
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized transition plans in collaboration with students, families, and support networks.
  • Oversee the delivery of preemployment transition and Project SEARCH services, such as career exploration, work readiness training, postsecondary counseling, workbased learning experiences, selfadvocacy instruction, job coaching, and job placement assistance.
  • Manage budgets, grants, and funding sources to support transition programs and services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and quality standards related to vocational rehabilitation, transition services, and disability rights.
  • Develop partnerships with employers to create inclusive and supportive work environments, facilitate internships, and promote job opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Coordinate with educational institutions to provide seamless transitions from school to postschool activities, including higher education, vocational training, and employment.
  • Engage in program coordination activities that may include attending individualized education program meetings when invited; developing work opportunities for students, including summer employment; and, when invited, attending personcentered planning meetings for students.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough forms, records, and reports of student interactions and service sessions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with program requirements and confidentiality standards.
  • Monitor program outcomes, track participant progress, and collect data to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Demonstrate knowledge or ability to stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in the field of vocational rehabilitation and transition services.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and networking events related to transition services, disability employment, and workforce development.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative communication
  • Demonstrate ownership and initiative regarding professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to disability rights, inclusive practices, and school/employment support services, including accreditation requirements as applicable.

Job Requirements:


  • Degree in rehabilitation counseling, special education, social work, or a related field OR high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, transition services, disability employment, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience and program management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of disability laws, vocational assessment tools, transition planning, and employment support services.
  • Strong leadership, customer service and team building skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including clients, families, educators, employers, government, and community agencies.
  • Understanding of personcentered planning, individualized support strategies, and accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
  • Commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and selfdetermination for individuals with disabilities.
  • Requires flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and student/school needs; including ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed
