Capital City is looking for innovative, experienced, and passionate staff members for the school year.


This role is a 12-month position, which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The responsibilities of the College Counseling and Alumni Associate i
nclude:
College Counseling

  • Supporting the Director of College Counseling in the development of college planning curriculum, programs and services.
  • Assisting students and advisors in setting up and accessing Naviance accounts and ensuring effective use.
  • Supporting teachers and advisors with college readiness, and college planning curriculum through workshops, classroom/advisory visits and other activities.
Alumni Services

  • Support the maintenance of alumni data and database of Capital City Public Charter School alumni providing monthly updates to the Director of College Counseling and Alumni Affairs and the Principal.
  • Support Creating an alumni communication network to support and connect with alumni through social, career/networking, educational, volunteer and events.
  • Providing academic advising to college students, as needed.
  • Providing emergency/crisis intervention support for alumni, as they transition between graduation and first year college entrance.
  • Creating and maintaining a database of resources to support college students (scholarships, internships, employment opportunities).
  • Supporting college students attempting to register for summer courses locally.
  • Support the surveying of alumni and utilizing data to support programmatic decisions.
Assessments/Admissions Testing

  • Assisting the Director of College Counseling with the schoolwide PSAT and SAT test administration.
  • Assisting the Director of Curriculum and Instruction with AP test administration.
Other Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintaining detailed records of communications with alumni and providing regular reports to the Director of College Counseling and Alumni Affairs
  • Maintaining awareness of issues and trends in college admissions and higher education.
  • Supporting the Director of College Counseling and Partnerships with major programs and events including, College Awareness Month and Graduation.
  • Supporting school leadership in the enforcement of school rules and policies, as well as, other assigned duties.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required. Experience working in secondary education or college education preferred. Experience with District of Columbia financial aid preferred (i.e. DC TAG). Experience working with diverse student populations or in an urban setting is preferred.


In addition to the above requirements, staff members must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.
