    BACKFLOW SERVICE TECHNICIAN

    Job Functions/Responsibilitites

    In support of the company's cross connection program within Arizona, safely, efficiently and effectively:

    Completes backflow annual certifications, inspections, repair quotes/ repairs, new installations ( 1⁄2"-12"), site surveys and security cage installations.

    Diagnoses failures/non-compliant issues and provide accurate repair/replacement recommendations for backflow assemblies of all sizes.

    Advises and confers with necessary individuals to schedule service shutdowns to inspect, test, and repair backflow assemblies.

    Completes accurate documentation, updates records and computerized databases with all backflow service, repairs, installations and non-compliant issues.

    Manages material requisitions for assigned projects.

    Collaborates with service department personnel and other technicians to ensure that all customer requests are completed in a timely manner in accordance with required regulations.

    Maintains equipment, tools, vehicle and facilities.

    Maintains accurate supply inventory and requisitions supplies as necessary.

    Keeps required certifications current and valid.

    Ensures testing equipment is valid.

    Assists with tasks and projects as needed.

    Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements

    • Certified Backflow Tester in Arizona with ABPA, ASSE or equivalent certification.
    • Repair Certification preferred or ability to obtain within 60 days
    • Experience soldering, testing, diagnosing failures, providing accurate repair recommendations and repairing/replacing backflow assemblies of all sizes.
    • Ability to walk, stand, squat, kneel, and climb ladders multiples times a day.
    • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and utilizing high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within cabinets, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
    • Must have the ability to exert heavy physical effort to accomplish tasks such as digging or carrying and moving tools and equipment weighing 50-70 lbs. while working in extreme weather conditions including outside temperatures above 115 degrees.
    • Concrete Work Experience a plus or willingness to learn (For Backflow Cage Installs).
    • Interact with customers professionally and with patience, empathy, and composure, knowing when to take ownership and when to escalate customer concerns.
    • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to travel to multiple job sites daily and complete work independently with little supervision while meeting deadlines.
    • Valid Arizona driver's license and clean driving record.
    • Must be available to work Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, after hours as needed and rotating on call/weekends.
    • Some travel within Arizona required.
    • Ability to pass background check.
    • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Programs and track record of learning and mastering new programs.
