***: This position requires excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills and affinity to youth and youth development work. Surveillance Officers specialize in monitoring and analyzing activities through surveillance technology to ensure the safety and security of an organization or facility. Working in various sectors, including retail, corporate, and public spaces, Surveillance Officers play a critical role in detecting and preventing security breaches and incidents.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitoring and Analysis:

Use surveillance cameras and monitoring systems to observe and analyze activities in real-time.

Monitor closed-circuit television systems and alarms for any signs of disturbance. Identify suspicious behavior or security breaches and report findings to appropriate personnel involving BGCAC club members, visitors, and staff. Monitor staff compliance with organizational policies to safeguard company assets.

Incident Response:

Respond promptly to security incidents by alerting security personnel or law enforcement as necessary. Maintain communication with on-site security teams.

Implement safety and security protocols and respond to emergencies according to site-specific policies. Manage incidents and critical situations in a calm and effective manner.

Record Keeping:

Document and maintain detailed records of surveillance activities, incidents, and observations.

Prepare reports summarizing findings for security management. Maintain accurate and detailed logs and compile information for comprehensive reports, including gathering surveillance footage for senior leadership review.

Equipment Maintenance:

Ensure the proper functioning of surveillance equipment, including cameras, monitors, and recording systems. Report technical issues and coordinate repairs as needed.

Collaboration:

Work closely with on-site security personnel, law enforcement, and other relevant parties as needed.

Provide support during investigations by sharing surveillance footage and information.

Risk Assessment:

Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend adjustments to surveillance strategies. Collaborate with security management to enhance overall security measures. Identify potential security risks associated with special events. Ensure adequate staffing levels for monitoring field trips and offsite programming. Conduct regular and random patrols within and around BGCAC club facilities.

Communication:

Communicate effectively with other security staff to relay important information. Collaborate with other departments to address security concerns and implement preventive measures. Handle security issues and emergencies promptly by contacting appropriate emergency services, such as EMTs or the Fire Department.

Privacy Compliance:

Adhere to privacy laws and regulations when conducting surveillance activities. Ensure that surveillance practices comply with ethical standards.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands)

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Be at least 18 years of age.

A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in surveillance, security, or a related field may be beneficial.

College degree in a related field of study.

Certification:
(PREFERRED)

Obtain and maintain relevant certifications in surveillance techniques or technology.

4.


Technical Skills:

Proficient in the operation of surveillance equipment and monitoring systems.

Stay updated on advancements in surveillance technology.

Attention to Detail:

Strong observational skills and attention to detail to identify and analyze potential security risks.

Communication Skills:

Effective verbal and written communication skill
