Description

Duties:


  • Serves as a Headquarters, Department of the Army Foreign Military Attaché Support Specialist in the Foreign Liaison Directorate.
  • A
ct as a primary Army Staff point of contact for all aspects of service support relative to Foreign Military Attachés from notification of appointment to diplomatically represent their home countries to the U.S. Army until departure.

  • Ensures foreign military attachés obtain the documentation necessary to perform their routine duties throughout the duration of their assignment.
  • Utilizes knowledge of the Army Strategy, Army Regulations, and policies to provide advice, recommendations, and proposed courses of action to supervisors and other senior officials about all aspects of support to foreign military attachés.
  • Obligates Secretary of the Army Official Representation Funds and Army Foreign Liaison funds, acts as paying agent to expend those funds, and reconciles all funding requests.
  • A
cts the point of contact for HQDA accreditation for foreign military attachés.

  • Responsible for all phases of service support relative to foreign military attaché requests for logístical, administrative, and other assistance.
  • Oversees issuance of DoD Military Identification Cards to all categories of Foreign Affiliate Army personnel and their authorized dependents.

Conditions of Employment:


  • Twoyear trial period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 60085, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Will be required to take a counterintelligence scope polygraph examination, if access to a Special Access Program (SAP) is required.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel is required up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance and be eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Tier 5 (or equivalent) investigation.

  • Basic Requirement for Foreign Military Attache Support Specialist:
  • A

Degree:

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with a major or equivalent, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities; OR 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods.

Experience:

Courses equivalent to a major, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours, in one or more of the social sciences, or in the humanities, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Experience:

Four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the fields, as shown in A above, in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs.


  • In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
  • Specialized

Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes
providing support to requests for logístical or administrative assistance; AND ensuring adherence to military customs and courtesies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).


  • Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
