- Facilitates effective rapport with hospital personnel and medical staff.

- Administration of Work:
- Provides direct patient care for an estimated 60% of hours worked; see direct patient care responsibilities listed in job description #7522.
- Performs ongoing assessments of the patient service needs in the SCN, DEC and outpatient pediatric programs.
- Leadership/Supervisory Skills:
- Reviews and revises existing programs and service manuals.
- Orients staff, students, and other health care professional to the role of pediatric physical therapy.
- Provides input to Performance Management Process for other staff.
- Attends a minimum of one educational opportunity per year.
- Communications/Relationships:
- Keeps manager abreast of activity occurring with Pediatrics.
- Serves as liaison between the Department of Rehabilitation Services and the medical staff within Pediatrics to promote consistency or expansion of the referral base.
- Participates in interdisciplinary rounds.
- Organizational Expectations:
- Adheres to the NMH and departmental policies and procedures.
- Adheres to the Code of Ethics, Customer Service Standards and the Patients First Mission as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, formulating and meeting developmental goals.
- Work Environment:
- The work involves potential risks which require use of safety precautions, use of safe practices with patients (including standard precautions), avoidance of trips and falls, use of body mechanics, and observation of fire and safety regulations. It is the responsibility of the employee to be familiar and compliant with these procedures. The work also involves the use of safe practices with office equipment.
- Demonstrates responsibility for assessing, treating, caring for neonatal and pediatric populations from a developmental perspective.

- Commute between office space and patient treatment locations.
- Physical Therapy License, Illinois.
- Ilinois Department of Professional Regulations.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
- Master of Science or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in pediatrics.

Job Description
The Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist develops and administers physical therapy evaluations and treatment plans for patients by providing assessments and selecting appropriate techniques and therapies in order to optimize function and prevent disability.
