    BASIC FUNCTIONS/SCOPE:

    To assist in management and direction of the day to day operation and functioning of the Security Department under the direction of the Director of Security and within the guidelines set by the Jefferson Hotel. Will also have a focus on the management of the Valet Department of the hotel. Assists in establishing long and short range objectives for the Valet Department ensuring five diamond service while maintaining the security and safety of hotel guests and their vehicles, the employees and the facilities

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Act without prior approval and with full authority within his/her scope to ensure that all the Jefferson Hotel's policies and procedures are followed.
    • Take necessary action with regard to Security and Valet staff, i.e., hire, evaluate, discipline, terminate as required.
    • Ensure work schedules are prepared for effective staffing, ensuring efficient operation of the Security and Valet Departments within specific labor standards and budgetary concerns.
    • Participate in and help developing departmental training programs for staff, maintaining high morale, minimizing turnover, and concentrating on staff development on a monthly basis. Ensures all staff are fully certified in their positions.
    • Conduct staff meetings and seminars on a monthly basis as needed.
    • Handles hotel emergencies, ensuring safety and security for hotel guests and employees. Follows guidelines set forth by adhering to the emergency manual and procedures for all departments in the hotel. Will assist in updating written procedures for the following:
      1. Fire
      2. Medical
      3. Bomb Threat
      4. Power Outage
      5. Robbery
      6. Civil Unrest
      7. Elevator Emergency
      8. Weather calamities (tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.)
    • Will track all necessary training for Security and Valet staff. Ensures that department managers are conducting emergency training on a regular basis. Attends departmental meetings for re-training. Assists and/or creates training for:
      1. Credit card fraud
      2. Personal and traveler check fraud
      3. Handling Robberies
      4. CPR and First Aid
      5. Fire extinguisher usage, etc.
    • Will perform all safety checks and will assist in addressing guest's emergency matters and employee accidents.
    • Helps coordinates the correction of any safety hazards expeditiously.
    • Ensures all security incidents are reported. Trains staff to write incident reports clearly, comprehensively and with proper grammar. Ensures proper follow-up and resolution of all incidents.
    • Ensures completion of a daily security log. All security duties will be completed and listed on the daily log.
    • Ensures all security agents complete hourly tours and walk throughs of the building and grounds. Ensures the proper locking of all doors at appointed times.
    • Ensures the monitoring, maintenance and proper execution of all security cameras and equipment in the hotel and the exterior of the building.
    • Administers and handles lost and found items in the hotel. Ensures the integrity of the policy as well as the efficient resolution of all said articles.
    • Ensures the integrity of all hotel property by having Security staff monitor all packages exiting the hotel through the employee entrance/exit and other exits.
    • Will administer key control in the hotel. Will create, implement, train and ensure all employees comply with the key handling in the hotel. Keys controlled will include but not be limited to the following:
      1. Guest room master keys
      2. Back of the house master keys
      3. Storeroom keys
      4. Walk in refrigerators
    • Will assist in hotel investigations of suspected theft, fraud, graft, etc. Does so with the utmost confidentially.
    • Manages and oversees Valet Parking staff and schedules. Monitors incidents that occur in Valet Parking Department that involves guest complaints
    • Ensures any Valet Incident reports are accurate and that guests are contacted to verify details and procedures going forward. Work closely with Director of Finance in providing documentation for possible insurance claims.
    • Ensures all Service Standards for the Valet Department are met.
    • Notify and act as needed when any Valet equipment is not working properly.
    • Prepare any Accounting or Billing reports as needed. Be the liaison with any vendors that The Jefferson works with in regards to the Valet Department.
    • Ensure that all staff are legally able to operate guest vehicles safely.
    • Complete the daily payroll. Make adjustments on a daily basis. Correct any errors on employee paychecks in an expeditious and complete manner ensuring satisfaction of our employees.
    • May be assigned other tasks or responsibilities as required or directed.
