Summary:

With support of the Early Childhood Education Manager, help lead the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program of Community Progress Council through direct supervision, coaching and management of ECE classrooms and teaching teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES

  • Be committed to the vision, mission and values of Community Progress Council and its ECE programs.
  • Mentor teaching teams toward putting into practice theories and principles of child development and early childhood education.
  • Conduct regular classroom visits and observations to provide feedback and guide high quality learning environments and engaged interactions.
  • Provide guidance for effective classroom environments and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Inspire positive relationshipbased interactions with children, families and colleagues.
  • Model a collaborative working environment with teaching teams and facilitate team building in the classroom and across departments.
  • Collaborate with the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports team and assure the effective implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports in the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the classroom ecosystem and support services are working effectively together to improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Provide coverage in classrooms as needed to maintain ratio and model high quality early learning practices.
  • Coach assigned classroom staff with feedback on their job performance, collaborate on individual goal planning with each staff and/or teaching team, seek out opportunities to mentor classroom staff as needed, provide ongoing feedback on performance and towards individualized goals.
  • Initiate additional supportive classroom services when needed to improve classroom environments.
  • Ensure classroom lesson plans are developmentally appropriate and reflective of children's interests and abilities, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Support effective participation of dual language learners and children with disabilities.
  • Review and monitor teachers' collection of evidence in children's portfolios and rating of children's progress.
  • Ensure health and safety measures are upheld in classroom environments.
  • Prepare aggregated child outcomes reports and share data with teaching staff, administrators, families, and governing bodies. Facilitate data analysis and program improvement planning related to child outcomes.
  • Provide feedback and support for the completion of parent conferences and home visits. Ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Serve as a liaison between teaching teams and families, actively participating in collaborative meetings with families and other departments.
  • Remain current in the field of early childhood education, the Head Start Performance Standards, and other national, state, and local initiatives pertaining to school readiness and early learning.
  • Assist in designing and implementing an annual training plan for education personnel that is integrated with all service areas and is reflective of both annual EHS/HS/Pre-K Counts and DHS required trainings as well as needs identified from classroom observations/home visits, child outcomes data, the CPC ECE program plan, or other sources for all staff.
  • Crosstrain other CPC ECE departments as necessary to support multiple processes within the program.
  • Actively participate in the Education, PBIS and Inclusion Manager's team and other agency or community task forces, advisory committees, and work groups to assist in developing, implementing, and fulfilling the goals and strategic plans of CPC ECE.
  • Actively participate in the Early Childhood Education Management team and work collaboratively with other departments to continue improving program quality.
  • Act as a liaison between assigned classroom staff, the Education Manager and other CPC ECE leadership, outside agency support staff, building facility staff at classroom sites, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned. May be required to attend program functions outside of regularly scheduled work hours.
