Job Description:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP; physician assistant or nurse practitioner) will join our critical care team at Utah Valley Hospital, a level II Trauma Center located in Provo, Utah.
Working primarily in the 36-bed intensive care unit, the APP works in close collaboration with Intensivists and other specialists to provide extraordinary patient care.
The APP will see a wide variety of conditions and treatments typical in a general ICU setting, which will include pulmonary, cardiovascular, and neurological patients.
Full time, this APP will typically work 7 on, 7 off; rotating day and swing shifts This will include every other Saturday and Sunday morning, shifts during the week, and rotating holidays.
1-year clinical APP ICU experience required.
A Physician Assistant that has completed a critical care fellowship or a Nurse Practitioner with acute care certification is highly preferred.

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within their scope of practice.
Advanced Practice Providers may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.
Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
* and -Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
* and -Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.
* and -Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
* and -BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
* and -Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
* and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
* and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy (e.g., frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation).
* and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
* and -Walks and assists with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment (e.g., pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items). Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms full of equipment, with power cords on the floor.
* and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
