Duties:


  • As a Supervisory Data Scientist, you will:
  • Coordinate operational data science requirements and activities with strategic/data supply chain policy and planning requirements.
  • Prepare formal evaluation of employee performance or provides appraisals to be incorporated into formal evaluation and sets performance standards.
  • Supervise staff by planning, directing, coordinating, controlling, advising on, and reviewing work.
  • Identify the methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret findings from various structured and unstructured data sets related to the data science lifecycle.
  • Research, compile, and evaluate training programs.
  • Serve as key advisor to senior leadership on all matters related to data science.

  • Position has an official duty location of North Chicago, IL and is eligible for Situational Telework at the discretion of the Command.
    This position is NOT eligible for remote work (remote duty location). If telework is approved, selectees will be required to report to their official duty location as outlined in their telework agreement.

Basic Requirement for Data Scientist:

A


Degree:

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science.

The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

Combination of Education and Experience:

a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to 30 semester hours as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional related education or appropriate experience.

  • In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing data visualization methodologies and tools such as Qlik Sense, Power BI, Business Objects to perform data analysis; Advising on various topics such as data analytics, data visualization tools, capabilities, organizational capacity, and enterprise analytics infrastructure in support of program management and operations; Leading a team on relevant research and analytical studies to support critical operational problems and/or decisions for artificial intelligence programs and initiatives; Performing complex analytical, mathematical, and statistical research that inform operational requirements and implementation of data solutions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Education:


In order to qualify for this position, based on your education, education substitution, or combination of education and experience, you must have either completed the education requirement, or will complete this requirement within thirty (30) days from the closing date of this announcement.

If you will not complete this requirement within thirty (30) days of the closing date of this announcement, you will be rated as Not Qualified for this position.
