    About the Role

    Capella is currently seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to join our RF Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and characterization of microwave systems for space. As an integral part of our growing engineering team, you will be collaborating cross-functionally with electrical, software, mechanical, and spacecraft operations teams.

    Role Responsibilities

    • RF subsystem R&D (amplifiers, frequency converters, receivers, etc.
    • RF system modeling & simulation
      • Link budget analysis
    • Participate in RF system architecture trade studies
    • Support PCB design & layout
    • Support commissioning of new spacecraft and ground stations

    Qualifications

    • BSEE + 7 years related experience, or MSEE + 5 years related experience
    • Knowledge of various RF system architectures
    • Knowledge of component impairments and their effects
    • Understanding of antenna properties and types
    • Experience with simulation software such as MWO, VSS, ADS, SystemVue, etc.
    • Familiarity with signal processing and plotting in Python and/or Matlab
    • Strong verbal and visual communication skills
    • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable.     Preferred Skills

    • In-depth knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
      • Antenna systems
      • High power RF electronics
      • Software defined radios
      • Communications link analysis
    • Space systems-specific design experience
    • Experience with Altium Designer

    Travel

    This role could require up to 30% travel to our Colorado office

    Compensation

    The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $175, $232, The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
