At the Institute of Structural Biology at Helmholtz Munich, we study the structure and function of the PURA protein.

Our main goal is to understand PURA's cellular functions and the molecular consequences of a PURA deficiency in patients with PURA syndrome.

To achieve this, we use genetically modified immortalized cell lines and patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).

Our high-throughput techniques have already provided us with initial insights into PURA's interactome and its potential role in various pathways.

We are now seeking to validate these findings and identify specific molecular mechanisms that contribute to this severe disorder. Ultimately, our aim is to provide information that can lead to the development of treatment strategies for PUR
