We're looking for a dedicated and talented Home Instructor
to become part of our team**The schedule is agreed upon by the employee, the caregiver, and the Director of Data and Assessment, and will not exceed 20 hours per week.


Summary


The Home Instructor of Foundation Academies will collaborate with the Classroom Teacher(s) to provide the appropriate accommodations and modifications to the set curriculum by identifying the individual needs of scholars in a home setting, creating a supportive and effective learning environment, and ensuring scholars have the resources they need to succeed.

Home Instructors will work with scholars with various behavioral and medical needs to ensure they continue to make academic gains when outside of the school setting.


Requirements:


  • Must have at least 1 year of teaching experience (2+ years for Special Education applicants)
  • Exhibits the ability to establish and maintain a strong, positive relationship with the Classroom Teacher(s) and caregiver.
  • Must have a track record of measurable success and achievement.
  • Extremely organized and proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Willing to travel between FA campuses and scholar homes (must possess a valid driver's license).
  • Unwavering belief that all scholars can achieve academic standards for their grade level.
  • Welcomes the challenge to grow, learn, and improve in a collaborative environment.

  • Be a reflective practitioner

Certification

  • One or more of the following:
  • A valid New Jersey Teacher Certification in associated content and grade level
  • New Jersey certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities

Learner Mindset

  • Continuously improve your professional practice through monthly coaching sessions, professional development, and collaborative, datadriven reflection with department and gradelevel teams.
  • A desire to engage in and promote productive struggle.

Scholar Achievement & Progress Monitoring

  • Use data to plan, teach, and assess mastery of academic skills.
  • Provide instruction that is culturally responsive and culturally sustaining.
  • Collaborate with necessary stakeholders to ensure all scholars are learning in accordance with the requirements of their needs, learning plans, and/or accommodations.
  • Assist the Classroom Teacher(s) to teach scholars through an approved course of study using boardadopted curricula, books and other appropriate teaching materials.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and modified assignments shared by the core teacher.

Creating a Conducive Home Learning Environment

  • Consistently ensure home lessons run systematically, smoothly, and instructional time is maximized.
  • Consistently utilize positive reinforcement as a proactive measure to reinforce and recognize positive performance to build a community that helps scholars feel valued.

Organization and Planning

  • Coordinate with the Classroom Teacher(s) to ensure lesson plans are executed and assignments are completed on time and satisfactorily.
  • Facilitate and execute lesson plans with knowledge of students' needs and objectives to make necessary modifications to instruction

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Establish rapport with scholars, Classroom Teacher(s), and caregivers to create ongoing opportunities to engage and collaborate on the success of the scholars.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate in various forms with stakeholders in an emotionally intelligent manner that builds trust, community, and assists in meeting our established goals.

Personal and Professional Responsibility

  • Models the core values by having a caring disposition and meeting all commitments, doing their part in keeping the community safe by adhering to the established practices and protocols.
  • Work closely with scholars, caregivers, and Classroom Teacher(s) to create an environment that is supportive of scholar progress.
  • Do everything necessary or requested to prepare our scholars for college and to instill in them our core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty._
