Dynamic Opportunity~ As a part-time/PRN employee, working as needed per week, a Residence Specialist II provides assessment, planning, linking, monitoring and advocacy for clients assigned to supervised residences, referred from State psychiatric hospitals.


The Guidance Center~ is a primary mental health support agency, providing compassionate, professional care for individuals and families with mental health needs in the greater Cumberland County, NJ area. For more than 50 years, our non-profit organization of professionals, doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, has assisted the community in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of mental illness.


What does this position look like~ A Residence Specialist II is responsible for participation in the development of individual comprehensive service plans. Participation in individual service coordination activities. Communicating observations and information about the clients to the program coordinator, RN and treatment team. Documenting observations, information and services provided to the client in progress notes. On-site services and support supervising, organizing and supporting recreational and/or socialization activities. Assists in development of social, daily living survival skills. Assists in providing transportation. Promotes usage of community services. Participates in team meetings, including treatment planning.


What you need to apply~

  • In addition to one year of experience in a residential mental health setting, the individual must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health related field OR High school diploma or equivalent, plus four years related mental health experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with the chronic mentally ill adult population preferred
  • Valid automobile driver's license with MVR which meets Agency standards.
