Majestic Steel is excited to add to our production lines an Operator in Training We're hiring operators who are ready to hit the ground running That means operating machinery, lift trucks, and overhead cranes, testing dimensional tolerance, and reporting production data.

Second shift is Monday-Friday, 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate slitting line including proper setup of arbors, overarm, packaging line, and input coil length and piece counts information into ERP system for data management.
• Operate Cut-ToLength line including proper leveler adjustments to correct steel shape, stacker, and packaging line.
• Utilize ERP system for data management.
• Maintain all aspects of product quality including selection and appearance of material, dimensional tolerance, weight, piece count and app preprocess, inprocess and post process inspections.
• Prepare inspection records and report production data.
• Assist with handling quality issues.
• Communicate with other areas on changes to scheduling, processing, etc.
• Report machine malfunctions and assist the maintenance area with nonroutine or major repairs, as needed.
• Operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, packaging equipment, and all warehouse equipment in a safe and reliable manner.
• Report all equipment failures to the immediate supervisor and assist the maintenance area with nonroutine or major repairs, as needed.
• Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures, and adhering to safety guidelines.
• Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing, and hard hat protection.
• Assist in other areas on an asneeded basis.
• Other jobrelated duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

• 1 year of slitting or cuttolength operation exposure

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

• Accurately use precision measurement equipment such as calipers, tape measure, micrometers, etc.
• Intermediate level math, mechanical and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and procedures.
• Plan and prioritize workload.
• Communicate with management and coworkers in an effective manner.
• Maintain neat and orderly working conditions and help maintain and promote safe conditions throughout the facility.
• Operate assigned equipment in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in a Steel Service Center.
• Basic computer skills such as data entry and retrieval.
• 3 years of slitting operation experience.

Additional

• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to walk; sit; stand; climb; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl up to 10 hours.
• Must be able to mount, dismount and operate powered industrial equipment.
• Must be able to work in both hot and cold atmospheres depending on weather conditions.
• Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days, as needed, which includes weekdays and weekends.

Salary Range:
$22 - $26 an hour
