About this Role:

We are recruiting for a Research Scientist Supervisor I (Epidemiology/Biostatistics)
or (Social/Behavioral Sciences) to fill this vacancy.

The Research Scientist Supervisor I (RS Sup I) is responsible for the supervision and operation of the Unit.

The Unit serves as lead for the research, analytic, and data management efforts supporting the planning and implementation of the Medi-Cal Population Health Management (PHM) service.

The Unit also works with other programs in the Department, managed care plans, and other public/private entities to develop and implement research/evaluation methodologies, performance/outcome metrics, and standardized, statewide risk stratification/tier methodology for use in population health research and evaluation.

The PHM service will integrate data from disparate sources across the state, perform population health functions, and allow for data access and sharing between Medi-Cal and Medicare managed care plans, county in-home supportive services (IHSS) and behavioral health, providers, and beneficiaries.

Working Conditions

  • Telework is based on operational needs for employees who can perform their essential functions remotely and/or whose duties are conducive to teleworking per DHCS' Telework Policy and in accordance with Government Code Sections for employees residing in California.


Should the incumbent need to report to an office, they will need to report to DHCS office location: 1700 K Street, Sacramento, CA.
