Description
The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a diabetes technologist to join the faculty of the Center for Diabetes Technology (the CDT).
This is primarily a research position, with additional administrative and clinical trial management responsibilities at CDT.The candidate should have a strong commitment to improving the treatment of diabetes by promoting technological development, testing, and translation for new preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies.
The CDT is directed by Prof. Boris Kovatchev, PhD, a world-renowned researcher in the field of diabetes technology and data science. He is actively involved with Center projects and with the direction of all Center faculty. The Center's Associate Director for Research is Prof.Marc Breton, PhD, a control and system engineer with 20 years of experience in transforming diabetes data into improved treatments, including some of the most advanced artificial pancreas (AP) algorithms to date.
The Center's Medical Director, Prof.Sue Brown, MD leads the clinical aspects of the Center's work, including some of the largest randomized AP clinical trials in the World.
The Center is translational in nature, focusing on continuity from vision, to research, to execution of clinical trials - an approach that allows our faculty to experience all aspects of the development of viable therapies.
The Center's faculty are primarily from the School of Medicine, with appointments in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences, the Department of Pediatrics, and the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the Department of Medicine.
The primary appointment of the successful candidate will be at the School of Medicine, in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences.
The successful candidate must have a Medical Degree or equivalent and a successful track record in the clinical validation of technology-based interventions in diabetes.
The preferred candidate will also have demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining research collaborations across academic institutions and with industrial sponsors.
