Job Summary


Flagship Lab Services is seeking Life Science Laboratory Technicians II with Lab experience to join our dynamic and growing division in Greater Boston.

Working under supervision, this is an intermediate level position assigned to different operations and service departments.

Performs unskilled Lab Services, Maintenance, Dock Services and assists in performing corrective work orders, preventative maintenance, and manual tasks such as moving equipment, offices, and materials.

This will be accomplished by performing on-site routine maintenance and assisting with duties including but not limited to the Essential Functions listed below.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning properly. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables. Monitor stock levels, place orders as needed.
  • Conducts daily rounds and documents meter readings as assigned.
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of materials.
  • Adhere to quality control and assurance standards to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Follow established protocols and guidelines for laboratory safety, sample handling, and documentations. Performing safety showers, eye wash, fire extinguisher safety checks.
  • Monitor pressure of gas/nitrogen, the ability to change cylinders/tanks safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other team members, scientists, and researchers to support ongoing projects. Maintain basic paperwork according to client/tenant needs.
  • Communicate effectively to provide updates on progress, share findings, and contribute to team discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during experiments.
  • Cleans areas around buildings (laboratory space, property grounds, halls, loading docks, garages, etc.).
  • Basic abilities in carpentry and installation: mounting a shelf, installing a picture or whiteboards, and simple repairs.
  • Basic abilities of different lab environments and safety levels (IE-ACF, GMP, Clean Rooms)
Job Knowledgeable Training

  • Trained in safe hazardous waste handling of bio bins/biowaste disposal.
  • Trained in cleaning and maintaining Decon equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of building & lab management systems.
  • Alarm monitoring and management.
  • Basic inventory and tool safety.
  • Monitoring automations systems.
  • Escort vendors and contractors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

On-Call Status:

  • 24/7 Response if applicable.

Pre-Hire Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
  • Six months prior work experience in a related work environment, illustrating good attendance, professional behavior, reliability.
  • Ability to follow orders given orally and in writing.
  • Ability to complete tasks and paperwork with basic supervision.
  • Computer skills (i.e., excel, word, outlook)
  • May require an ACTIVE driver's license and personal vehicle.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools and paint.
  • Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs, use ladder, and perform various types of manual labor.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Vision (with correction) sufficient for reading, performing repairs and painting.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Days and hours of work vary according to the business demands.


Travel:
The nature of our business has worksites in several locations in the Greater Boston area. We expect our employees to remain flexible, and travel between sites may be necessary as the business demands.


Work Authorization:
All employees must be already authorized to work in the USA.
