The Fostering Aspirations:

Mentor Engagement (FAME) Program aims to empower and support youth ages 10 to 17, through one-on-one and/or group mentorship, providing them with the guidance, skills, and confidence needed to achieve their personal and academic goals.


Position Summary:

The Program Manager is a pivotal leadership role within the Tampa Bay Academy of Hope's FAME program, responsible for overseeing the comprehensive operation and success of the program.

This includes developing and executing program strategies, managing staff, establishing community partnerships, and ensuring the program meets its goals of mentoring youth within Hillsborough and Polk Counties, Florida.


Principal Responsibilities

Program Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the program's objectives, focusing on impactful mentoring relationships and family engagement.

Staff Management: Manage and monitor program staff, including Youth Advocates, Program Assistants, Mentor Coordinators, Family Navigator, Employment Specialist, and Data/Systems Manager. Define staff roles clearly and evaluate performance regularly.

Policy and Procedure Development: Formulate and implement programmatic policies and procedures that standardize and enhance program operations across all components.

Training and Development: Provide robust training for new hires and ongoing training for existing staff to ensure high competence in program delivery and operations.

Field Visits: Conduct regular field visits with staff to oversee program implementation and provide on-the-spot guidance and support.

Community Partnerships: Develop strategic community partnerships and draft Memorandum of Understandings to enhance program reach and efficacy.

Orientation and Training: Lead orientations and training sessions for mentors, mentees, and their families, ensuring they are well-informed and prepared for their roles within the program.

Event Planning: Organize and oversee quarterly events for parents and children, as well as monthly activities for mentees and mentors, fostering community and engagement within the program.

Program Evaluation: Regularly review and update the program model to incorporate best practices and feedback from participants and staff.

Documentation: Develop a comprehensive policies and procedures manual within the first one hundred days of hire.

Community Engagement: Plan and host an open house to introduce the community to the mentoring model and the benefits of the FAME program.

School Outreach: Meet with middle and high school principals to promote and integrate the FAME mentoring program.

Leadership and Culture: Uphold and propagate the leadership philosophy within the workplace, ensuring a culture of respect, integrity, and collaboration.


Expectations and Goals for the Program Manager

Develop at least twelve new partnerships each year: Forge new community and organizational partnerships to broaden the reach and impact of the program.

Recruit and register at least 150 mentees each year: Ensure FAME reaches its capacity by actively recruiting and engaging eligible youth throughout the community.

Recruit and train at least 125 mentors per year: Establish a robust mentor base by attracting and providing high-quality training to new mentors.

Review goals with program staff and develop plans to meet all program outcomes: Regularly assess program effectiveness, adjust strategies, and guide staff towards achieving program goals.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in program management, ideally within a nonprofit or educational setting.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and community partnerships.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets and resources.
  • Ability to work flexibly and responsively in a dynamic environment.

Required Goals include:


  • Mentoring Rate 80% of participants in the mentoring program shall receive mentoring services for at least one school year or one full year.
  • Mentor Recruitment:
  • Recruit and train at least 125 ongoing mentors to the FAME program each year.
