About iBio

The Opportunity


iBio is excited to announce a new opportunity for a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our world-class Platform team in Sorrento Valley, San Diego.

As a Bioinformatics Scientist, you will be responsible for executing iBio's core machine learning engine and designing experiments to test model performance in the wet lab.

Your background in programming will be critical for building bioinformatics tools and pipelines for antibody drug discovery campaigns. You will then put your predictive models to the test through wet lab experiments.

This role is located in San Diego, CA.


Responsibilities:


  • Execute bioinformatics analysis and pipelines for antibody drug discovery
  • Computationally design engineered proteins for discovery of epitopespecific antibodies
  • Computationally design antibody libraries to optimize template antibodies
  • Construct antibody libraries using standard cloning techniques
  • Produce and purify proteins using mammalian and _E. coli_ expression systems
  • Document and organize data in an electronic lab notebook

Requirements:


  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biophysics, Physics, or related life sciences and computational field. OR
  • MS/MA in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biophysics, Physics, or related life sciences and computational field and 3+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience. OR
  • BS/BA in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biophysics, Physics, or related life sciences and computational field and 5+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, or C++
  • Proven track record of developing bioinformatics and/or computational biology tools and algorithms
  • 1+ year of experience modeling protein and/or DNA sequence data
  • Experience with basic wet lab techniques
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Proven track record of collaborating with crossfunctional teams

Preferred skills:


  • Experience designing and executing molecular biology is a plus
  • Experience with protein purification and/or functional assays is a plus

California Base Salary Range
The expected annual base salary for this position ranges from $85,000.00 to $115,000.00, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

The base salary range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by various factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, job-related skills, relevant education attained, work location, and organizational needs.

This range may be modified in the future. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
