Job Summary


Reporting to the Deposit Operations Senior Manager, this position performs operational support functions to enhance efficient deposit account servicing and effective service to members.

Specifically, this position is responsible for most aspects of Deposit Operations which include but are not limited to:
in-office tasks, electronic funds transfers, ACH, and checking services.


Position Description

  • Analyzes data collected from a combination of various reports and determines appropriate actions necessary to perform defined timesensitive essential duties and responsibilities for all ACH functions.

These include, but are not limited to:

processing incoming/outgoing Federal Reserve ACH files/batches and ACH Returns, International ACH Transactions (IATs), Late Returns, Notifications of Change (NOCs), Reclamations, Disputes, Death Notification Entries (DNEs), and Daily Exceptions.

Assists with other ACH functions including origination, notifications of change, disputes, and error resolutions.

  • Processes check and ACH errors and exceptions.
  • Researches and resolves rejects, stop payment requests, disputes, and inquiries timely and efficiently. Analyzes and resolves account discrepancies such as posting, encoding errors, and crossreference issues. Attempts to contact members if necessary for resolution.
  • Balances and reconciles assigned General Ledger accounts.
  • Follows HUECU procedures to research and resolve discrepancies within required deadlines.
  • Reviews Mobile Check Deposit exceptions.
  • Processes Returned Deposited Items
  • Researches and resolves moderately complex, operational, branch and member issues and ensures that errors and discrepancies are resolved and appropriate followup is completed.
  • Reviews TCM reports and researches suspect duplicate check deposits.
  • Processes term certificate renewals and changes. Produces and forwards new certificate notices of maturity and renewal to members.
  • Recommends changes or alternate ways in processing methods to allow improved operating efficiency and member service.
  • Supports other individuals or units performing similar functions as needed during absences or special projects.
  • Performs other job related duties and projects as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • A minimum of four years of related banking, credit union, financial services operations and/or accounting experience required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • IRA experience is desirable; training is provided.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations is preferred.
  • Understanding of payment functions and products preferred. AAP or NCP certification is a plus.
  • Previous accounting/customer service experience in a bank or credit union environment.
  • Team player; able to adapt if the needs of the department/Credit Union require an adjustment of routine activities.
  • Analytical skills are required to access risks within specific job responsibilities including handling of confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously while processing detailoriented and timesensitive functions in a fastpaced environment.
  • PC literate in Windows Excel, Word, and Adobe.
  • Comfortable working in the diverse and multicultural environment of Harvard University.
  • May be expected to perform some required duties remotely on Harvard University holidays that are not Federal Reserve holidays (such as the Friday after Thanksgiving).

  • This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only).
