Family Connection Specialists work with families receiving Home Based Therapy (HBT) and Individual Service Option (ISO) services.
Model and reinforce skills related to stress management, substance use / misuse, effective communication, co-parenting, behavior management and positive discipline strategies, and underlying challenges that have contributed to current court involvement.
Job Functions
- Counseling in effective family interaction and parenting, that may include: anger and behavior management, batterer intervention, child discipline alternative, assistance with keeping a daily journal, child safety maintenance, positive parent and child communication and interaction and household management, including assistance with budgeting and nutrition
- Assistance to parents in monitoring their child by ensuring school attendance, enforcement of curfews, and compliance with court orders.
- Conducts home visits to assess family needs and provide case management services when necessary while promoting selfsufficiency.
- Provides psychoeducational services on family related matters, such as: child development, parenting, life skills, home management, personal problem solving and accessing community services as appropriate
- Provide necessary transportation and supervision to facilitate family visitation.
- Crisis assistance to stabilize families by responding immediately to a family's needs
- Maintains necessary assessments and documentation in accordance with agency and funding source requirements
- Collaborates and coordinates with families, colleagues, collaterals and community agencies
- Attends and participates in all meetings and hearings as needed
Requirements:

Completed bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years' experience working with children, youth and families _OR_

Completed master's degree in a related field:
- Experience working with at-risk children and their families
- Ability to interact effectively with families
- Knowledge in child development and family life skills.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Computer and database skills
- Flexibility in scheduling (able to work limited nights and weekends).
- Must have own vehicle, current New Hampshire Driver's License, and automobile insurance.
- Be cleared via Criminal Background and Driving History review.
Pay:
$ $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
