We are seeking a Director of Music Ministries who can partner with us in our vision of bringing revival to our worship services and church community.

NoHo First UMC is an inclusive church that wants to be inclusive in its music, offering traditional, modern, and cultural music that connects to people of various ages and backgrounds.

The Director must be able to conduct our small choir.

In addition, he or she must be able to play the piano and sing and be a leader in worship.

The director needs to be someone who understands both traditional and modern forms of worship as we work at blending our service.

We are rooted in the love of Jesus and seek a director that radiates that love.


Duties & Responsibilities

• Worship Leadership:_
• Be present on Sunday mornings and at other worship services as directed by senior pastor to lead in the music of worship
• Provide creative input in worship planning
• Choose and plan service music (hymns, anthems, introits, responses, praise, and special music) according to the scripture and theme as set by the pastor
• Partner with the organist/accompanist and other instrumentalists and singers
• Prepare music for special services not on Sundays (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and/or Good Friday, and Christmas Eve)

• Prepare and lead weekly choir rehearsal
• Seek out new music and arrangements reflective of the changing music scene and styles
• Warmup and rehearse choir Sunday mornings and have them ready for 10:30 worship
• Promote the choir in the community and recruit new members
• Manage Music Ministry funds
• Attend related seminars or retreats for personal growth, learning, and development
• Partner with Pastor and Board in envisioning and implementing music ministry

Develop Special Music Ministry:

• Recruit and schedule special music as needed
• Recruit and coordinate the musical gifts of the congregation
• Recruit and coordinate outside musicians as needed
• Preview prospective special music if necessary
• Provide support and constructive input to musicians and vocalists
• Lead special music as a soloist or accompanist when appropriate or necessary
