***This position responsible to review construction bid documents, blueprints, architectural drawing, structural drawings, and specifications in order to prepare detailed estimates and take-offs for miscellaneous metals projects (steel stairs, railings, ladders, etc.). Coordinate job turnover with project managers, fabricators, and field personnel.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calculate labor, material, and equipment costs to develop an estimate and bid proposal.
  • Prepare estimate prices on change orders for ongoing projects.
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers to complete a materials and labor takeoff.
  • Prepare required bid forms and documents.
  • Complete work in a timely manner to meet bid schedules.
  • Respond to clients in a timely manner.
  • Always follow up bids with clients until the project has been awarded.
  • Responsible to meet clients for a site walk thru of a potential bid opportunity, as required.
  • Maintain and update the Project Bid Schedule.
  • Prepare project turnover documents for projects won.
  • Build and develop trusting relationships with current customers and seek to identify opportunities to grow our customer base and build positive relationships.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE (Include necessary licenses and specialized training.).

  • College degree preferred with a degree in Engineering, Detailing or 3D Modeling. Previous work experience in estimating, project management or drafting may substitute.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience estimating metal fabrication projects.
  • Experience with structural steel and miscellaneous metals preferable
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, structural drawings, welding symbols and construction plans.
  • Thorough understanding of steel fabrication and erection methods.
  • Previous experience using design/detailing software is preferred.
  • Ability to learn proprietary estimating software.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at a time and manage time efficiently.
