***This position responsible to review construction bid documents, blueprints, architectural drawing, structural drawings, and specifications in order to prepare detailed estimates and take-offs for miscellaneous metals projects (steel stairs, railings, ladders, etc.). Coordinate job turnover with project managers, fabricators, and field personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Calculate labor, material, and equipment costs to develop an estimate and bid proposal.
Prepare estimate prices on change orders for ongoing projects.
Obtain quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers to complete a materials and labor takeoff.
Prepare required bid forms and documents.
Complete work in a timely manner to meet bid schedules.
Respond to clients in a timely manner.
Always follow up bids with clients until the project has been awarded.
Responsible to meet clients for a site walk thru of a potential bid opportunity, as required.
Maintain and update the Project Bid Schedule.
Prepare project turnover documents for projects won.
Build and develop trusting relationships with current customers and seek to identify opportunities to grow our customer base and build positive relationships.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE (Include necessary licenses and specialized training.).

College degree preferred with a degree in Engineering, Detailing or 3D Modeling. Previous work experience in estimating, project management or drafting may substitute.
Minimum of 3 years experience estimating metal fabrication projects.
Experience with structural steel and miscellaneous metals preferable
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, structural drawings, welding symbols and construction plans.
Thorough understanding of steel fabrication and erection methods.
Previous experience using design/detailing software is preferred.
Ability to learn proprietary estimating software.
Ability to work on multiple projects at a time and manage time efficiently.
