ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.
  • Patrols school premises to maintain order, enforce regulations and ensures observance of applicable school policies.
  • Patrols school grounds to detect and/or require correction of unauthorized and improperly parked vehicles.
  • Monitors student movement on campus during passing periods and lunch periods.
  • Provides assistance to students, staff and visitors regarding information, emergency conditions, traffic and parking control and, when appropriate, "crowd control" at special events.
  • Monitors students during sporting events, may put equipment away at end of games.
  • Conducts inspections of doors, windows and gates to ensure that they are in a safe and operable condition, and reports anomalies to the school principal.
  • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with all students, staff members, enforcement agency representatives and SRO's.
  • Monitors, addresses and facilitates the exit of all unauthorized persons on or within school property boundaries. Notifies administrator, SRO and staff if unauthorized persons are on the property.
  • Obtains appropriate assistance for accident victims and writes accident reports.
  • Confers with school officials, employees and students to regarding alleged violations, and assists with the investigation of disturbances, complaints, theft, vandalism and accidents.
  • In the event of a fire or other emergencies, calls 911, and may sounds the fire or police signal to alert emergency response team, students and school personnel.
  • Assists school administrators, fire and other enforcement officers in emergency situations.
  • Reports to the principal, any unusual conditions or noticeable malfunctions of heating, plumbing or electrical systems.
  • Directs and controls vehicular traffic as necessary.
  • Prepares daily written reports regarding shift activities.
  • Assists school staff with inappropriate student conduct. Escort students from class to office when needed. May supervise students in class or office, as needed.
  • May be required to attend periodic inservice training programs and/ or school faculty meetings to receive or convey information.
  • Due to the potential for access to confidential student and staff information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed in the school.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:


  • High School Diploma.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Minimum two years' experience in law enforcement i.e., private, military or public sector preferred.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Card.
  • Knowledge and experience with various security and fire protection systems, emergency procedures and tact in dealing with students, employees and the public.
  • Excellent health and physical condition.
  • Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.

The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties:

  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions with environmental noise.
  • Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff including the exchange of accurate information.
  • Moving about on foot throughout the campus.
  • Frequently required to position body to perform duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  • Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  • Clarity of vision at close range and long range of 20 feet or more while observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-Time Position - 10 months Monday - Friday 8 hours a day


SALARY CLASSIFICATION:
Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.


EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
