The mission of The Central Family Life Center is to provide Staten Island individuals, including children, seniors, at-risk youth, and families of varying backgrounds, with the needed services, programs, and opportunities to improve their overall well-being.

CFLC is committed to reducing health disparities for New Yorkers using an innovative approach to foundational policy, communications, equity, diversity & inclusion, and partnership work.

CFLC has maintained an active role in the Staten Island community for 30 years.

CFLC serves the community through educational programming, workshops, and direct services designed to empower and improve the lives of the Staten Island Borough's most vulnerable population.


Job Summary


Cure Violence initiative works with year-old at risk youths who are or may have been involved in street violence, community residents, businesses and community-based organizations to implement Cure Violence.

Cure Violence is a public health strategy to reduce and prevent shootings and killings. This program will focus on a defined area identified as a "hot spot" in Stapleton, Staten Island.

The program works to prevent gun violence by:
1) mediating conflicts that may end in gun violence

2) changing the thinking of individuals who are most at risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence

3) working closely with a broad coalition of local partners to promote a visible community-wide message that shooting is unacceptable behavior.

Administrative Program Assistant responsibilities include and are not limited to, preparing reports and maintaining appropriate filing systems.

The administrative assistant should have good oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools, such as MS Office, Publisher or Canvas and office equipment.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide administrative support to Assistant Director of Operations, Program Manager, and staff to ensure that all clerical and operational program functions are handled daily
  • Maintain office supplies by checking inventory and outgoing orders
  • Respond to questions and requests for information regarding CFLC and T2L
  • Ability to supports the team in working with community residents, businesses and communitybased organizations of all types to assist in implementing strategies to reduce and prevent shootings and killings in selected "catchment area"
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and respect to all staff
  • Create flyers for our different events
  • Assists the program manager and community coordinator in coordinating regular mobilization and public education activities, and managing social media accounts
  • Support the vision and mission The Central Family Life Center and the program and coordinate program partnerships with other local CBO's
  • Process clerical material, including typing and filing program and administrative correspondence and distribute checks
  • Create signing sheets for the events, checks and stipend distribution
  • Submit Check request with proper documentation (receipt, participants signing sheet, ect.)
  • Manage True 2 Life Calendar and program manager and provide office support by organizing, planning and executing daily activities
  • Maintain all social media accounts to deliver the "No Guns, No Shootings" message, activities that are planned, followed and collaborated with relevant organizations connected to our mission
  • Supervise all interns and ensure schedules, tasks, etc are followed and or completed daily
  • Assist in entering data into the appropriate system as needed
  • Create information packets and maintain materials for distribution to outside youth service providers to cultivate potential referrals as necessary
  • Create, review and organize the volunteer listings, trainings, workshops and outside events
  • Schedule and assist in meetings coordinated by the MOCJ and internal meetings as required
  • Maintain and track of metro cards, youth stipends and other forms of reimbursement methods
  • Answer and appropriately direct incoming calls and visitors
  • With the Program Manager and staff, review shootings and other significant violent occurrences to plan immediate community response and other appropriate interventions
  • With the Program Manager, organize and lead regular mobilization activities within the community, including response to individual shootings, rallies, planning and coordination meetings, and public education activities
  • Assist the Program Manager in the development and distribution of public education materials, including flyers, posters, stickers and social media postings to promulgate a "no guns, no shootings

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree
