    Stratom is seeking a versatile individual with professional experience in vehicle chassis and structures design. You will be a major contributor to our unmanned vehicle and autonomous robotic arm projects, which require a diverse set of engineering expertise. As a growing R&D firm, each team member is asked to wear many hats and contribute to a wide variety of disciplines, so resourcefulness and adaptability are highly valued. A strong candidate will also have outstanding interpersonal skills and be ready to become a prominent leader within our engineering team right away.
    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Lead the design and development of chassis systems and structural components from concept to production.
    • Conduct feasibility studies, analysis, and simulations to validate design concepts and optimize performance, weight, and cost.
    • Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing.
    • Perform structural analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA), to assess strength, stiffness, and fatigue life of chassis and structural components.
    • Support prototype build and testing activities, troubleshoot issues, and iterate designs based on test results and feedback.

    QualificationsRequired Skills
    • Minimum 5+ years of experience in structural design, preferably in the automotive, industrial, aerospace, or robotics industry
    • A relevant Engineering Degree(s), such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, etc. Advanced degrees are a plus.
    • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools
    • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
    • Must possess the ability to explain complex concepts in a way that makes sense to someone less knowledgeable about the topic.
    • Generating GD&T for fabrication, inspection, and fixturing of components
    • Ability to Travel up to 20% over the year, and up to 50% in short surges
    Preferred Skills
    • Experience developing lightweight, high strength structures
    • Experience with Suspension and Steering system kinematics and compliance as well as full vehicle ride and handling.
    • Procurement, including vendor selection and qualification, as well as inspection
    • Hands on experience, comfortable welding, machining, wiring, etc.
    • As a technical lead, responsibilities include scheduling, assigning work, reviewing the technical adequacy of work products, meeting cost and schedule.
    Additional Requirements
    This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Non-U.S. persons selected must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-restricted information. The ITAR/EAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

    While a DoD Security Clearance is will not be required when starting at Stratom, we require our employees maintain their eligibility to obtain one.
