    Description

    The Holm Electric Designer/Engineer/Estimator develops drawings and plans to be used by installers, reviews drawings produced by other members of the team, does takes-offs to produce cost estimates and reviews takeoffs and estimates done by others. The position applies knowledge of electrical, engineering and construction principles to perform the essential functions.


    Essential Functions

    • Creates initial and final drawings for residential and commercial projects using AutoCAD, VISIO, Planswift, etc.
    • Uses knowledge of various components, engineering practices, mathematics and construction to complete design plans.
    • Performs calculations to ensure that established standards and NEC codes are adhered to.
    • Performs research to identify component and material specifications, and identifies suppliers.
    • Prepares engineering and quantitative takeoffs for projects based on plans.
    • Prepares project estimates and proposals.
    • Provides project specific technical information and guidance to technicians to ensure quality of ongoing projects.
    • Assembles project documents.
    • Keep current with the latest technical innovations.


    Requirements

    Proficiency in AutoCAD
    Competency with the suite of Microsoft Office applications.Experience with PlanSwift, Visio and D-Tools is desired.
    Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
    Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
    Able to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises.
    Can work independently and within a team.
    Effective communication skills both written and orally; expresses ideas clearly and actively listens to the thoughts and ideas of others.
