STATEMENT


UWCM is well known for its Family Center programming, where high school student-parents participate in an array of supportive services designed to remove barriers on their path to high school graduation.

The Family Center offers individual and group counseling, parenting workshops, case management, high quality early childhood education for their infants and toddlers, and transportation to and from school, all at no cost.


The Family Services Coordinator's role is to manage, coordinate, and administer clinical/social work supportive services for high school student-parents, their children and their external supports, who participate in Family Center programming.


The Family Center operates within UWCM Neighborhood Zones, geographical regions, where we listen deeply to residents and co-create solutions using an asset-based framework.


OBJECTIVES

  • Develop and take leadership in the implementation of trauma informed and clinical parentchild attachment interventions with high school studentparents and their families.
  • Provide overall management, coordination, and administration of clinical/social work support services for Center families and children.
  • Support parenting students and their families as they become their child's first and best teacher and advocate.

55% Provide High-Quality supportive services

  • Provide case management, short term individual and group counseling as needed and/or psychoeducational opportunities based on goal plan (include family members living in the home when available)
  • Meet with new center participants to conduct a strength and needs assessment, cocreate goal plan, and familiarize them with the center's services
  • Train and support staff with the implementation of trauma informed and parentchild attachment interventions with families
  • Provide crisis management support and consultation with High School staff, and act as point of contact with student's teachers. (Ben Franklin and Excel Academy only)
  • Provide supervision and oversight for community inhome intervention program (Excel Academy only)
  • Provide informal and formal parenting education to families using the Circle of Security-Parenting Program curriculum; Track each parent's progress using the Nursing Child Assessment Satellite Training Parent-Child Interaction Scales (NCAST PCI Scales); implement additional MFN suggested attachment curriculum
  • Grow and manage Family Center resource partnerships
  • Provide informal and formal core services; ensure documentation
  • Provide individual, family and group counseling.
  • Have knowledge of community resources and how to access them effectively.
  • Serve as a Field Instructor to Social Work Interns.
  • Conduct home visits to Center parents when needed
  • Provide direct support to all family centers whenever the FSM position is vacant at those centers.
  • Other related duties as required by the program

25% Communication

  • Build partnerships and collaborations that will benefit our participants (i.e., core services, resources and referrals)
  • Work collaboratively with Child Development Specialist to ensure family goal plans are implemented effectively
  • Present information regarding the program to funders and related committees, as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with people of diverse educational, cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Participate in relevant citywide and regional committees, boards, etc.
  • Attend all MFN required trainings and ensure all related data is reported in a timely manner (Excel Academy only)
  • Conduct aggressive outreach and recruitment
  • Advocate effectively for families.
  • Meet weekly with In-Home Interventionist to provide consistent supervisory support.

20% Processes and Procedures

  • Maintain up to date files for each participant, ensuring all CARF requirements are adhered to.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all participant records, files and paperwork
  • Track services provided to each participant and provide relevant data to funding partners.
  • Reinforce equitable programming across the Center

INTERACTION (Internal and External):

Internal:

Interacts with UWCM central staff and UWCM neighborhood staff on a regular basis; provides information as needed, participates on staff committee/team activities; develops cooperative and effective working relationships with Neighborhood Zone staff, including Impact Strategies team members and other UWCM colleagues.


External:
Interacts with volunteers, community partners, collaborators, and other organizations on a regular basis to respond to inquiries. Interacts with High School staff and BCPS district staff on a regular basis to coordinate Center admissions.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS (required education, years of experience, skills, and abilities):
