Implements, develops, and supports initiatives that engage children and families in meaningful and transformative faith formation at the national, diocesan, and regional levels in alignment with the goals and priorities of the Office of Lifelong Formation, Department of Parish Vitality and Mission, and Renew My Church initiative.

Works under the direction of the Director of Lifelong Formation to ensure that catechists and catechetical leaders are supported with appropriate resources and information to engage children and families in their ministries.


  • Works with ministry team to develop and implement guidelines and resources for catechetical leaders, particularly in the areas of religious education, sacramental preparation, and formation of parents.
  • Works with the Office of Lifelong Formation Team to plan and execute a vision and measurable outcomes for each event, program, or initiative aligned with the goals of the office, department, and Renew My Church initiative.
  • Works as part of the Child and Family Ministry team to develop and implement formation strategies, including contributing to the planning and creation of workshops and webinars for parish catechetical leaders and catechists.
  • Maintains and disseminates relevant initiative information, such as coordinating publication of the lifelong formation newsletter, managing contact lists and databases of parish catechetical leaders, and communicating webinar and live event details with participants.
  • Provides general support to parish catechetical leaders as needed, particularly in navigating diocesan policies, accessing and utilizing officedeveloped resources and connecting to appropriate Pastoral Center colleagues when necessary.
  • Coordinates with interdepartment colleagues for promotion, participation, and programming in catechist and catechetical leader initiatives.
  • Ensures knowledge of and compliance with Archdiocesan policies and regulations related to youth initiative participation.
  • Contributes to preparing, proposing, amending, and following the Ministry Team budget at the direction of the Office Director.
  • Leads and participates in committees, projects, or initiatives as directed by Office of Lifelong Formation or Department of Parish Vitality and Mission.
  • Increases skills and knowledge through continuing education, attending conferences and reading appropriate literature.
  • May be given other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level of this position.
  • Denotes essential functions of this position, in conjunction with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Experience:
Required

  • Fully committed to the Catholic Church's teaching on the Gospel message. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including lay ministers, college students, pastors, volunteers, and persons with varied social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Power Point, Access and Publisher
  • Must be an excellent communicator, detailoriented and selfmotivated.
  • Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values, and availability for overtime, evening or weekend work.
  • Ability to drive, carry materials and climb stairs; available to attend evening and weekend meetings if necessary
Preferred

  • Experience with social media, Zoom and MailChimp
  • Experience in project management and/or coordinating events and programs serving many people.
  • Experience with child and family sacramental preparation and catechesis.

Education:
Required

  • Bachelors or better in Theology or related field
Preferred

  • Masters or better in Theology or related field
