    Job Description Youth Care Professional Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Support and reinforce the therapeutic treatment plan of clients by providing guidance and direction to residents in their daily living activities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Provide mentorship and supervision of resident daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures.
    2. Ensure that residents adhere to daily schedules and activities established for the program, including school, therapy sessions, external appointments, etc.
    3. Ensure that residents comply with required activities surrounding personal hygiene and grooming, upkeep of living areas, laundry, etc.
    4. Serve as a mentor and role model by demonstrating compassion and understanding for feelings, opinions and experiences of others, and communicating and interacting in a manner that is honest, positive, respectful and professional.
    5. Demonstrate an acceptance and respectfulness toward diversity concerning commonalities and differences such as gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, disability and gender identity.
    6. Administer medications per established protocols and generate related recording requirements accurately.
    7. Participate with coworkers as a team on implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services.
    8. Remain cognizant of individual resident levels/phases, privileges, restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly.
    9. Engage in therapeutic interventions with residents within treatment parameters, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
    10. Report to supervisor signs and symptoms potentially requiring intervention or referral (suicidal or violent tendencies, self-mutilation, eating disorders, etc.).
    11. Comply with all documentation and standards including, but not limited to, critical incident reporting.
    12. Attend staff meetings regularly and actively participate.
    13. Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic.
    14. Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures involving living areas, buildings, campus grounds and while attending off-campus activities.
    15. Perform First Aid/CPR procedures and respond according to established protocols in the event of an emergency situation.
    16. Maintain appropriate boundaries in all interaction and contact with residents.
    17. Comply with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality for residents and their families.
    18. Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and a.,;sist in the transportation of client for home visits, doctor appointments, planned recreational activities, etc.
    19. Assume Staff-in-Charge duties when assigned.
    20. Perform other responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed.
    QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes
    • Remain current on all required training and certifications.
    • Demonstrate sufficient written and verbal communication skills to generate required documentation and reporting that is legible and articulate, and to interface effectively with staff, families, and external contacts.
    • Exhibit a spirit of cooperation among coworkers and comply with corporate and site policies and procedures.
    • Display ethical conduct and professionalism at all times, with particular emphasis on maintaining a healthy relationship and appropriate boundaries with residents. and protecting residents' confidentiality.
    • Adhere to department procedures regarding punctuality and attendance and exhibit flexibility and cooperation with shift scheduling and rotation needs.
    • Strive to gain an understanding of basic child and adolescent development principles, in an effort to model and reinforce fundamentals of positive youth development.
    • Continually seek knowledge of and an understanding of differences in gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity, class, religion and disability, to eliminate biases toward differing talents, abilities, sexual orientation and faiths.

    Education, Credentials and Experience
    • Minimum 21 years of age
    • RCYCP certification is required within 180 days of hire date
    Physical Demands
    • Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of residents.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
    • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).
    • Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility.
