Duties:


  • Plan and conduct target language classes using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches, to develop students listening, reading, and speaking skills;
  • Administer weekly quizzes and assessments, and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of students learning progress;
  • Provide monthly written reports of the students' progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues;
  • Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources into teaching to support independent learning;
  • Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student's individual learning styles and professional needs;
  • Propose and participate in beyondtheclassroom cultural activities in the school and in the DC metro area, such as visits to foreign embassies, cultural centers, restaurants, and shopping areas where native speakers live, to promote cultural learning.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field
  • Minimum two years of fulltime experience teaching adult students
  • Experience teaching US military students
  • Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other governmentadministered tests
  • Knowledge of the ILR scale
  • Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment
  • Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx
  • Native speaker of the Tagalog language
