Corporate Paralegal - Oakland, United States - Block

    Default job background
    Description
Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment.

The blocks that form our foundational teams - People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more - provide support and guidance at the corporate level.

They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more.

Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.

Block is seeking an exceptional paralegal to partner closely on all corporate governance matters. In this role, you will help provide organizational and substantive support to the attorneys on the corporate team. You will assist in coordinating and preparing for Block, Inc. board meetings and managing board requirements and will report to Block's Governance Lead. This is a great opportunity to join the Block legal team and work on a variety of cutting-edge issues. As we expand our offerings, your ideas and contributions will make an immediate impact. We are looking for a highly adaptable, organized and self-motivated individual who can handle fast-paced projects independently.

    You Will:

    • Coordinate and prepare for Block board and board committee meetings and pre-read deliverables
    • Provide administrative support to the corporate team and play a key role managing important corporate records, and maintaining confidentiality
    • Help coordinate with finance and regulatory teams on various requests in connection with our periodic filings and regulatory examinations
    • Manage special corporate projects
    • Help to facilitate the filing of registrations and similar documents with the Secretary of State and other government agencies including the SEC and NYSE.
    • Help to facilitate shareholder engagement, including Q&A preparation
    • Work with our internal business, counsel, finance and compliance teams, as well as with external advisors and experts
    • Provide assistance to other members of the corporate legal team as needed with managing our domestic and international subsidiaries
    • Manage projects effectively, with a team-oriented approach.

    You Have:

    • At least 6 years of paralegal, project management or other experience requiring attention to detail and time management
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Experience working independently with limited supervision
    • Experience with participating in and sometimes leading large, cross functional initiatives
