In the role of Associate Director, IT Clinical Development Operations you'll tackle complex challenges as you develop and diversify your professional experiences while helping others grow and develop their skills.
This role will be the strategic partner within the Information Research (IR) organization for the purpose of business-BTS strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management to the Clinical Development Operations organization (Study Management & Site Monitoring) within Global Therapeutics.
This includes facilitating business discussions, working with the Domain Director, leading the planning and execution of technology initiatives enabling the Clinical Development Operations organization to achieve their business objectives through the effective use of technology.
This role will communicate decisions, priorities, and relevant information to appropriate levels of staff regarding service requests, projects, and ongoing operations.
They represent the Business Technology Solutions organization to the Clinical Development Operations business by promoting AbbVie BTS' vision, value, services, and capabilities.
The individual will advocate on behalf of business stakeholders to ensure all technology services meet their business priorities and needs.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Leading a team of 6-10 direct report business facing analysts and/or consultants.
- Working with internal and/or external stakeholders as a thought leader to align technology solutions with business strategies.
- Ensuring IR solutions support the shortterm and longterm business goals/strategy and align with our BTS strategy.
- Driving and defining technology objectives and recommending industryleading solutions to support business needs.
- Identifies technology solutions to support business growth and productivity.
- Analyzing emerging technologies and working with business and IR Leadership to translate implications of the new trends to an effective technology vision and strategy.
- Establishing and maintaining a strategic relationship with appropriate level key stakeholders.
- Advising on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impacts on enduser products and services, business processes and system priorities.
- Clearly and effectively communicating business value of technology programs to executive stakeholders.

- Identifying and mitigating potential problems and conflicts with IR delivery.
- Complying with applicable Corporate, Divisional and IT Policies and procedures.
Required:
- Bachelor's with 9+ years, Master's with 8+ years, or PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience in, and/or supporting technology in the Clinical Development Operations area within a life science organization.
- Broad understanding of the clinical development business processes, especially related to document management, medical writing, disclosure, site management and digital health.
- Leads stakeholder (internal and, when appropriate, external) business planning and strategy meetings.
- Leading prioritization of IT initiatives based on organization(s) needs/strategy, IT workload and budget.
- Project financial planning and cost tracking experience, with working knowledge of project management methodologies, complex capacity plans, and procurement systems and best practices.
- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile (SCRUM) methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of outsourcing methodologies and operating models, and working with professional services firms.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business teams.
- Highly organized, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
