DEPARTMENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Houston Water consists of approximately 1,500 drinking water and wastewater professionals including engineers, scientists, facility operators and maintains personnel. The Infrastructure and Development Services section is responsible for infrastructure planning to meeting the short
- and long-term needs for water, wastewater, and storm drainage systems, providing protection of the wastewater treatment plants and water purification plants through the issuance of letter of available, and reviewing requests for new water districts and long-range planning for water and wastewater projects.

  • Infrastructure and Development Services is seeking an Administrative Coordinator with excellent communication skills, selfmotivated, effective problemsolving, and customer service driven.
  • The Administrative Coordinator duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Performs varied professional administrative functions associated with organizing the development and implementation of the administrative and supervisory activities of Infrastructure and Development Services.
  • Acts as a liaison for Infrastructure and Development Services on matters involving other City Departments.
  • Responsible for preparing, editing, and revising department, division, and section correspondence; prepares, edits and revises procedure manuals.
  • Responsible for preparing speeches or remarks for the management team. Provide response to officials, clients and general public on sensitive department, division or section issues.
  • Coordinates with financial operation and/or Infrastructure and Development Services, including procurement, contract management, annual budget, expenditure control, accounting procedures, and travel.
  • Responsible for supporting the Municipal Setting Designation Program and the grantfunded Brownfield program.
  • Prepares daily, monthly, and annual operational reports indicating absentees, daily phone calls, completed letters, ILMS, INFOR, and performance.
  • Manage internal spreadsheets, databases, GIS layers, and web content of the section.
  • Coordinate public meeting and public hearings for Infrastructure and Development Services.
  • Will participate in special projects assigned by the management team of Infrastructure and Development Services.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing etc.

This is a Houston Public Works position at the Tier III Level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a closely related field.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Five years of administrative experience are required. Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
