The Hebron Board of Education has anticipated multiple paraeducator openings at Hebron Elementary School, for the school year.

Position Summary:


Supervisor/Evaluation:
Receives general supervision and performance evaluation from Principal and/or Dean of Students with significant input from teachers.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work with children individually and in small groups to reinforce basic skills and to check their use of instructional materials under the supervision of the teacher.
  • As assigned, support implementation of students' Individual Education Program goals and objectives under the supervision of the responsible certified special education staff.
  • As assigned, support implementation of students' behavior management plans under the supervision of the responsible certified special education staff.
  • Assist the teacher in the development and construction of materials to be used as reinforcement activities.
  • Help to prepare the room, materials, and equipment for daily use.
  • Provide routine nonteaching classroom procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings and inservice programs as requested by the principal, dean of students, or teacher.
  • Provide supervision for nonclassroom activities as directed by the principal and dean of students (bus arrival/departure, lunch room, and playground).
  • Plan with the teacher the execution of followup activities to reinforce initial instruction provided by the teacher.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community, following and upholding school rules and standards.
  • Safely supervise students in both instructional and assessment activities in and out of the classroom.

Skills:


  • Effective communication skills; oral, written and visual with adults and children
  • Understanding of basic principles of childhood development
  • Familiarity with educational software or willingness to learn

Qualifications:


  • Associates Degree, 2 years of higher education, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
  • Prior experience working with students strongly desired
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:


Other requirements include but are not limited to: reaching, some lifting, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling.
