Job Summary:
This is a fast paced, hybrid customer service position for Kartchner Caverns State Park.

Under the general direction of the Discovery Unit Supervisor and Park Manager, the employee will perform a variety of skilled work activities associated with the operation and maintenance of recreation-based or natural resource/historic park.

These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work both independently and with others.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all visitors, in person and on the phone.
  • Make reservations, process credit card and cash transactions using ASPT's data based proprietary software.
  • Completes all training required for this position and any additional duties in a timely manner.
  • Administer customer satisfaction surveys and compile survey information.
  • Lead cave tours, work the gate house, and drive tram when needed.
  • Maintain public information signs, stocking of brochures, informational and educational literature available to the public in the Discovery Center.
  • Monitor and administrate social media i.e. to include but not limited to Website updates, calendar of events, Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.
  • Responsible for customer service culture at Kartchner Caverns State Park and overall excellence of service to both outside and inside customers.
  • Respects, advocates and educates the importance of preservation and cultural resources.
  • All other duties as assigned.


This position must be able to work weekends and holidays and could possibly relocate to another state park seasonally and/or permanently.


Job Duties:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Make reservations, process credit card and cash transactions using ASPT's data based proprietary software.
  • Cross train to lead cave tours, drive tram, work the gate out and trail when needed.
  • Monitor and administer social media i.e. to include but not limited to website updates, calendar of events, Facebook, Twitter, and or Instagram.
  • Maintain stocking of brochures and literature available to the public in the Discovery Center.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Customer service principles.
  • Basic bookkeeping techniques.
  • Discretion and judgment in the handling of sensitive matters.
  • Principles and practices of administration and management.
  • Accounting and budgeting procedures.

Skill in:

  • Customer service.
  • Verbal and written communication and correspondence writing.
  • Selling tours and campsites.
  • Data entry.
  • Obtaining customer information.
  • Basic math skills, accuracy in record keeping.
  • Various software programs, navigating within different programs simultaneously.
  • Writing business letters, reports and memos.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Analyzing and resolving routine customer service problems.

Ability to:

  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Work high volume of telephone calls.
  • Work effectively with tour agents and school or other large groups.
  • Learn and use various equipment.
  • Be flexible and adaptable as directed in requested work duties.
  • Use sound judgement and initiative.
  • Visit park sites to become familiar with products being sold (tours, campsites, ramadas, etc.).

Selective Preference(s):

  • Experience in a call center environment.
  • Prior experience and skill in customer service and data entry.
  • Prior experience in parks and recreation.

Customer Service Experience.
