Objective of Position
To provide high-quality child development programs. Program delivery and implementation are in keeping with the YWCA GLA Mission.
Statement of Primary Duties
- Provide careful and effective supervision of children's activities as assigned by the Site Director and Program Director
- Maintain appropriate standards and rules for children's behavior. Disciplinary methods used are nonpunitive, supporting children's selfesteem while teaching selfdiscipline
- Facilitate and nurture the development of each child's selfesteem, trust and growing autonomy
- Facilitate program curriculum planning and implementation of ageappropriate activities that enrich academic skills, linguistic abilities, cultural and recreational experiences
- Interact positively with all parents and refer questions and concerns to the Site Director or Program Director as appropriate
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions
- Cooperate with a flexible work schedule as it may change to accommodate program needs between the hours of 7am to 5:30pm.
- Assist Teacher with meal counts, absent slips, and signin/singout sheets
- Complete Desire Results Developmental Profiles and Ages and Stages Questionnaires under the supervision of the Techer for a group of children as assigned by the Teacher
- Sub as a Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) cook as needed and follow rules and regulations as it applies to the kitchen
- Substitute or move to any other YWCA GLA Child Development Center as needed
Salary:
$18.85/hour
This position will rotate as necessary at Walnut Park, Compton and Union Pacific Child Development Centers.

Possession of an Associate Teacher permit to the standards of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education including core courses
- Six months experience working with children in a group setting
- Must provide a TB clearance within the last 12 months and must be retested a minimum of every two years as required by Community Care Licensing
- Minimum of 15 hours of training in preventive health practices including pediatric CPR
- Must show evidence of a successful Health Screening as required by Community Care Licensing on a yearly basis
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs
- Ability to sit on floor, bend at waist, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time
- Ability to lift infants and toddlers weighing up to thirtyfive (35) pounds
