Job description:
We are looking for a hands-on Software QA Engineer to test and validate our virtual advertising software and support live event operations.
You will work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure product stability, verify tracking and keying quality, test new builds, and troubleshoot technical issues during live events.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both structured software testing and real-time problem-solving in production environments.Responsibilities
Execute manual testing for new software builds, including:
Tracking validation
Keying and compositing accuracy
UI functionality and workflow testing
Perform smoke, regression, and release testing before deployments.
Log detailed, reproducible bugs in Jira or Slack Canvas.
Verify bug fixes and document test results.
Support live events by diagnosing:
Capture card and signal flow issues
Software crashes or performance problems
Tracking or overlay malfunctions
Work with engineering to escalate and resolve event-critical incidents.
Maintain test cases, checklists, and QA documentation.
Assist in improving QA processes and coverage over time.
Qualifications
Required:
3+ years of experience in software QA or software testing.
Strong manual testing background with experience writing test cases and test plans.
Experience working with logs, repro steps, and detailed bug reporting.
Ability to troubleshoot issues calmly during live events or time-sensitive situations.
Comfortable being on-site in NYC five days per week during evening hours.
Preferred:
Experience in ad-tech, broadcast, live production, or media software.
Working knowledge of video, display, or capture card workflows (HDMI/SDI, resolution settings, signal troubleshooting).
Exposure to test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.).
Basic scripting experience (JavaScript or Python).
Experience with OBS, vMix, or other production tools is a plus.
