ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The primary responsibility of a Program Instructor is to instruct AeroStar's aviation education curriculum in-person, in a classroom environment, (normally after school and/or on Saturdays) or online via our e-learning platform, the "AeroVerse," for students in grades K through 12.

As a Program Instructor, you will instruct fun aviation, aerospace, and STEM-focused lessons and lead engaging student activities.


You will also:

  • Make a difference by helping students learn about aviation, aerospace, and STEM concepts, including educational and career pathways in these industries
  • Facilitate inperson AeroStar and/or online AeroVerse curriculum, activities, projects, and learning solutions
  • Coordinate parent and student communications
  • Coordinate and oversee field trips
  • Manage an inperson classroom with at least a 15:1 student to instructor ratio
  • Manage an online classroom
  • Provide students with feedback and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Attend program development meetings scheduled outside of program hours
  • Commute to Chicago and event locations in the Greater Chicago Metropolitan Area and Northwest Indiana for program dates, events and/ or field trips
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization
  • Maintain records to track attendance and participation

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • College Senior or Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting
  • Must have an aviation background or aviation experience
  • Three years of teaching, instruction, or group facilitation experience
  • Teaching certificate desired but not required

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Familiarity with drones, aircraft, spacecraft, rotorcraft, airport design, and flight simulators
  • Laptop/Computer/ Tablet and Internet skills
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (e.g., Google Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral challenges

SALARY
$15-$21 an hour
