Job Summary:

Role and Responsibilities:


  • Identifies and implements various types of employee hiring and retention incentives.
  • Presents a professional and positive impression of Valley Christian Schools as it aligns with our beliefs and mission.
  • Sends offer letters, tracks responses, and communicates with the hiring managers.
  • Sends letters of intent to faculty staff.
  • Conducts background clearance which includes references, consumer reporting, and fingerprint cards.
  • Conducts new hire 1st day and annual staff orientation for new hires.
  • Conducts new hire orientation that includes, but not limited to, benefit enrollment, essentials for job, review of key policies in the handbook, track completion of antiharassment training, where to find resources, and Paylocity general use.
  • Creates and manages job descriptions.
  • Collaborates with the HR & Payroll Specialist on offboarding when an employee separates/terminates.
  • Collaborates with the HR & Payroll Specialist as it pertains to contracts and salaries.
  • Responds to and resolves employee inquiries/concerns within the scope of the assigned duties.
  • Filing, faxing, scanning, and maintaining personnel files.
  • Assist with HR projects when needed.
  • Has awareness of labor and employment laws and hiring practices and willing to reference, research, and attend continuing education in HR matters.
  • Adheres to Valley Christian Schools policies, procedures/processes and codes.
  • Maintains confidentiality of HR matters and highlevel company information.
  • Attend required school events.
  • Performs other related assigned duties.

Requirements:


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others.
  • Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school.
  • Agree to uphold Valley Christian's Statement of Faith.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a good fit for the culture at Valley Christian Schools.
  • Supports workplace diversity.
  • Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card to work in a school environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have excellent presentation, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Savvy with social media used for recruiting and Zoom and Teams apps.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and handle time sensitive tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, analytical and critical thinking skills, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed. Some evening and weekend hours are required for school & recruiting events.

Education and Experience:


  • Minimum of 1 year experience and passion in the full cycle of recruiting and for Human Resources.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of labor and employment laws.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:


  • Experience using an HRIS/payroll system. However, we will train.
  • Some education or certification in Human Resources.

Physical Requirements:


  • Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2story).
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms).
  • Work in a noisy and crowded school environment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed.
  • Frequent walking throughout the campus.
  • Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events.
