The mission of the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation is to provide quality medical, dental, alternative medicine and vision care, along with health education and other health services to income disadvantaged residents regardless of their age, gender, race or religious affiliations with inspiring love and humanity to both the givers and receivers.


Our busy medical practices in Alhambra and South El Monte is searching for dedicated Medical Assistant staff members to join our team.

Clinic hours are Tuesday - Saturday 8am - 5pm.


Schedule - Medical Assistant I/II/III


Under the supervision of the Nursing Director, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing front and back office assistance on a daily basis to support the maintenance and delivery of excellent patient services.

The Medical Assistant must demonstrate responsibility and accountability for their own professional practice.

They will work collaboratively on clinical operations with the leadership team and assist with clinical care services/programs, which include patient experience, patient safety, HEDIS quality measures, financial goals, etc.

Demonstrates performance consistent with the strategic plan of the organization and BTCMF mission and values.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrable record of excellent customer service and phone etiquette required
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Computer literacy in any electronic medical record system
  • Flexibility with work schedules and work locations is a must
  • Medical Assistant certificate/program completion
  • Certified Medical Assistant with phlebotomy certificate preferred
  • Previous medical assistant experience preferred
  • Bilingual English/Chinese/Spanish preferred
  • Experience with FQHC and eClinicalWorks preferred

Responsibilities

  • Front Office_
I. Welcome all patients and visitors by greeting them in-person or on the telephone


  • Schedule appointments as per established policies and procedures
  • Assist patients with filling forms, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Review and verify patient insurance coverage, collecting copay and other fees
  • Maintain all patients' information by obtaining and updating current insurance, annual income, if applicable, and payments made
  • Answer inquires, handle complaints, and route calls or redirect patients to appropriate resource
  • Utilize problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints, know when to escalate
  • Adhere to confidentiality and patient privacy protocols in accordance with HIPPA requirements and the Foundation's established policies and procedures
  • Pre screen patient qualifications, collect documentation, and assess against appropriate sliding scale if applicable
I 0. Ensure lobby area is safe and clean at all times

  • Back Qffice_
  • Provide quality patient care by conducting initial patient assessment, vital signs, necessary point-of care testing, health screening procedures and assist providers as needed
  • Manage the flow of patients and working closely with providers to efficiently take care of patients within their scheduled appointment time
  • Notify patients of normal results following provider review and sign off
  • Document all patient information on electronic medical records as accurately as possible
  • Perform acupuncture, EKG, ear lavage, urine dip, pregnancy test, glucose test, vision, and audio screening
  • Administer immunization and injection as ordered by a medical provider
  • Assist with medication/vaccine inventory and logs
  • Ensure exam room and lab room are stocked with necessary supplies and instruments, report to supervisor on items running low
  • Maintain cleanliness of the exam rooms, nurse station, and vital room by utilizing infection control techniques
  • Works independently and collaboratively with other staff
  • Assists in Clinic or Mobile/event operations as needed
  • Responsible for assisting in the training and development of new and/or existing staff as needed
  • The Medical Assistant is also required to perform other duties as may be assigned by the Foundation's management

Pay:
From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
