    Required QUALIFICATIONS


    Required Education:
    High school graduation or equivalent.


    Required Experience:


    Two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities in a training facility, sheltered workshop, employment, or group home setting or with children as a teacher's assistant or with patients in a psychiatric facility.

    Licensure or Certification Requirements


    • A valid Oregon driver's license.
    • Current first aid/CPR card.

    Preferred Education

    Bachelors Degree in Human Services, Special Education, or any other Social Science focus.

    Preferred Experience

    Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities in a vocational setting.

    Position Purpose:


    Responsible for vocational and social skills training and supervision support of small groups of adults with developmental disabilities in a variety of work settings or learning environments.


    This hourly, time sheet assignment is primarily responsible for vocational and social skills training and supervision support of small groups of adults with developmental disabilities in a variety of work settings or learning environments.

    This position will not be responsible for performing the full scope of duties outlined in the Developmental Disabilities 1 job classification.

    This hourly assignment works under the direction of the Division Dean.


    Essential Functions:

    • Monitor and evaluate the student worker's (client's) progress.
    • Problem solve with student workers on performance.
    • Identify skills and social requirements of prospective and current jobs for student workers through task analysis.
    • Instruct and monitor student workers in the proper use and safe operation of tools and equipment.
    • Maintain daily production records of student workers.
    • Implement behavior modification plans for individual student workers using positive reinforcement techniques.
    • Observe and record student worker responses.
    • Distribute and record prescriptive medication issued to individual student workers.
    • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Supervision Statement:
    Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Division Dean and Specialized Support Services Administrative Coordination Lead. After initial training and orientation, employees in this class work independently with within prescribed parameters. Additional training may be given during staff and in-service meetings. Work is reviewed through observation and feedback from program customers.

    This position is responsible to assign tasks, provide priorities and monitor the duties of student workers (clients).


    Physical Demands/Working Environment:


    Work and drive safely; ability to lift, push and pull up to fifty (50) pounds; may walk or work outside in inclement weather; may stand for more than one (1) hour a day.


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    Knowledge of and Skill in:

    • The methods used in training persons with developmental disabilities.
    • Laws and guidelines pertaining to adults with disabilities.

    Ability to:

    • Implement behavior modification plans using positive reinforcement techniques.
    • Instruct and supervise persons with developmental disabilities.
    • Work in a variety of work settings, as assigned.
    • Observe and record data on student behavior in work performance.
    • Conduct task analysis as necessary to determine job components for training programs.
    • Assess problems and needs of student workers.
    • Give medications, as prescribed, in a timely manner.
    • Work independently and as a member of a team.
    • Properly and safely use tools and equipment in the area of assignment.
    • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Use diplomacy to resolve conflicts.
    • Remain calm under stress.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with student workers, parents, group home providers, customers and the general public; and drive safely.
    • Provide support to employees working to meet accreditation standards through evaluation and assessment of student outcomes.
