Seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Junior High/High School Math and Science teacher for a growing Montessori school.

Applicant would be responsible for math and science instruction for a mixed age class of junior high students as well as another class for high school students.

Montessori training (paid for by the school) would be mandatory after the first year of service.

This would include approximately 4 weeks of classes (M-F 8-6 and Saturday 8-12) in Houston during the first summer and additional weeks of training during the second summer, as well as mid-year seminars.

Must be confident and comfortable teaching all concepts that have a consensus in the scientific community including evolution and climate change.

Must also be confident instructing all math levels through calculus.

Applicant must have a desire to work in a progressive school with an emphasis on community and relationship building.

Given the size of the school, the teacher will also be expected to assist in the 4th-6th grade classroom when not directly responsible for junior high or high school classes.

Hours would be 7:30-4:00 Monday through Friday.

Secondary Montessori certification is preferred.

Staff must be flexible and have a desire to work as part of a close-knit teaching team. All teachers are expected to fill in at various program level during staff absences. This is a non-traditional school with a team approach.

Applicants must be able to see a need and fill it and not focus solely on a narrowly defined role as a math/science teacher.

While there are high expectations for all staff members, the work environment is very relaxed and supportive.

Applicant must have a bachelors degree in education, science, math, or another related field.

A few weekend school events throughout the year are required.

Pay:
$50, $55,000.00 per year
