**Position Highlights**

Arizona Public Media is looking for a Producer and Show Runner to join the Arizona Illustrated production team. Arizona Illustrated is a mini documentary program that engages southern Arizona's viewers with thought-provoking, diverse stories that reflect our community through stunning photography and powerful storytelling.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished television story producer with a proven track record of creating compelling visual content for broadcast and digital platforms and an experienced storyteller, with multi-media skills, strong editorial judgment, excellent interviewing skills, extensive experience in field production, knowledge of and practical experience with video photography and non-linear editing, and an individual who is naturally inclined to engage via social media.

In addition to overseeing weekly episodic production, this position will also work with and mentor staff story producers and occasionally produce stories of their own. As such, a successful candidate will prepare and conduct interviews, originate reports; write and produce field segments; maintain current knowledge of local, national and international news; cultivate local, regional, national, and international sources.

The incumbent will be an accomplished video and audio package reporter/producer, experienced in translating complex public affairs issues to video, audio and digital stories. Your primary responsibility will be to research, write and deliver stories, across formats - two-way interviews, field-based reporting, events, etc.

This position may also be called upon to serve as the back up host/anchor for Arizona Illustrated. Additionally, as the AZPM newsroom is looking to create more cross-platform/program content, the successful candidate will also have the ability to create content for the AZPM news team.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

Oversee weekly production of Arizona Illustrated episodes, offering advice and coaching to story producers

Responsible for producing a weekly television program, helping to plan and choose topics, stories, and interviews; scheduling productions logistics, working with the host and reporter/producer to write and refine host intros, cutting individual program segments to optimum length for quality, clarity, and for time

Write and produce high-quality broadcast content, that presents complex issues clearly, maintaining a consistently accurate, fair, balanced, and professional product, meeting deadlines for the respective platform or program

Work with the AZPM News Digital Editor/Reporter to prepare the show for posting on the AZPM News Website

Operate video/audio equipment, non-linear video editing systems and drive University vehicles as necessary

Create additional content/stories (television and/or radio) for AZPM news

Write content, engage with visitors, and post on AZPM online, blog, and social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook on a daily basis

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

Thorough knowledge of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards

Thorough understanding of cross-platform (digital, video, audio), content production techniques and workflows

Understanding, appreciation, and passion for explaining policy in layman's terms so an audience can understand how they impact an individual life

Ability to produce visually forward, factually sound, clear and accurate video stories for a TV and digital audience

Ability to translate video stories into audio stories, including rewriting, restructuring and editing audio

Proficient with digital non-linear editing systems (e.g., Adobe Premier, Final Cut, Avid)

Proficient with audio editing systems (e.g. Adobe Audition, Hindenberg, Audacity)

Working knowledge of online search and social media tools. Ability to work flexible hours

Skill in live studio, field, and remote production

Computer literate and able to work in a Mac environment. Familiarity with public broadcasting conversational style delivery

**Minimum Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required

Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience required

**Preferred Qualifications**

Fluency in Spanish language

On camera reporter, anchor, and/or host experience
