Summary:


About the role:

The Director, Marketing Strategist, Gene Therapies is responsible for the long-term planning, implementation, and execution of marketing strategy, marketing mix, and operational plans for a specific brand(s) and will either report directly to a Senior Marketing Strategy Lead or into the Head of Marketing Strategy (if they are supporting a product that has achieved brand max).

As a master of several marketing domains, this individual will closely partner with cross-functional and extended team members to translate product strategy into customer-centric concepts, deliver on key business objectives and priorities and establish brand positioning.

This role will also be responsible for interfacing and maintaining effective relationships with Product team counterparts, as well as the Customer Experience Planning and Optimization team to ensure that the marketing strategy and concepts are effectively orchestrated into customer-centric campaigns, tactics, and experiences.

This person will also be responsible for building strong relationships and a strategic plan with medical experts in Neurology, specifically the therapeutic areas of SMA, to position Novartis Gene Therapies as the leading company that external customers trust and want to partner with for the long term.


About the Role:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Works with multiple internal partners for the sharing of key insights, strategies and plans in order for the teams and Novartis Gene Therapies to be viewed as "one coordinated team" and a leading company in the eyes of the customer within the rare neurology space.
  • Leads all US congresses from a Medical Expert engagement perspective to ensure a robust and engaging presence at the meetings.
  • Build relationships with medical experts and continuously learn external customer's expertise & influence, competitive landscape and market changes/influencers
  • Develop the Commercial Medical Expert Engagement Plan so we can disperse our leaders strategically, to amplify our presence in SMA and rare neurological diseases, uncover insights and opportunities in order to accelerate our goal and organization priorities.
  • Meet with top medical experts to gather insights to drive development of new strategies and opportunities, capturing insights and reporting outcomes to senior leaders and crossfunctional team
  • Provide strategic direction to peers and team members to inform and drive brand growth, including making tradeoff decisions and recommending priority activities and investment based on commercial value
  • Ensure appropriate market analysis and competitive benchmarking is conducted to inform marketing programs and tactics to support both inline indication and future launch
  • Partner with Senior Marketing Strategy Lead on the management of brand lifecycle planning, longrange financial planning, and financial forecasting requirements
  • Support the development of the marketing strategy, priorities, and activities for one or more segments or channels; drive and measure brand performance; and effectively drive customer engagement across multiple collaborators that are core to brand success
  • Ensure an integrated patient & HCP strategy is defined and delivered for the brand that will achieve the Product strategy and objectives; including resourcing required, budget and collaborate with the agency (AoR) for marketing and partnering with Operations to enhance agency relationship(s)


This position will be located at the East Hanover, NJ site and
will not have the ability to be located remotely.

This position will require 10-20% travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international).


What You'll Bring to the Role:

Education:
Bachelors degree in science and/or degree in business Marketing or Clinical Research (or related degree). MBA is preferred.


Essential Requirements**:


  • 8+ years of operational marketing or medical education experience with focus on extensive product/brand management including customer facing/sales experience or experience engaging with medical experts in a marketing or medical capacity
  • Ability to manage medical congresses and work with societies to enhance Novartis Gene Therapies presence at these meetings (US)
  • Experience in driving successful brands in highly competitive categories within the US
  • Understanding and ability to navigate regulatory, compliance and legal environment to launch new programs
  • Demonstrated success leading across crossfunctional teams, including Product, Communications, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance and Global
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and engaging key customer groups and other important team members to gain deep insights to evolve brand strategy and communication
  • Understanding of emerging technology to deliver strategy

Desirable Requirements:


  • SMA or rare neurological diseases therapeutic area experience
  • Experience with US professional marketing launch within the pharma ind
