This Opportunity
WSP is currently recruiting a full time Electrical Engineer to join our growing Property & Buildings team in Seattle, Washington.
The ideal candidate will have a background in building electrical design, energy conservation and resiliency, an understanding of electrical systems, good communication skills, and the ability to work closely with a group of experienced professionals in order to meet our clients' objectives and solve complex problems.
In this role, you will help to design and document electrical systems for a wide variety of project types across many market sectors.
Your Impact
Perform and lead electrical engineering design tasks for power systems, electrical distribution, indoor/outdoor lighting, grounding, and lightning protection, as well as systems such as communications, access control, security, IT, and fire alarm in conformance with codes, standards, construction practices, and client's goals.
Under minimal supervision, develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, facility and electrical service, and power distribution.
Develop electrical designs for buildings across a wide variety of market sectors, including residential, commercial, hospitality, industrial, civic, and healthcare facilities.
Produce designs and develop construction drawings within software modeling applications such as Revit and AutoCAD. Direct junior engineers and/or design staff for development of documents.
Prepare technical reports summarizing designs and field investigations.
Proactively collaborate in-person and remotely with multi-disciplinary design teams in executing projects.
Support construction activities such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to contractor's requests for information, participating in progress meetings, and reviewing progress via site visits.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or closely related discipline.
5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in electrical engineering.
Highly proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
Possesses diversified knowledge of building, electrical, and energy codes.
Strong experience developing high quality design documents and deliverables using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
Highly proficient with technical writing, load calculations, discipline-specific design software, industry-standard technology, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
The ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineering (PE) license or eligibility for licensure.
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
Additional industry-specific certifications or registrations (LEED AP, DBIA, etc).
Member of and/or active participant in local professional practice organizations.
Flexibility to work and travel outside normal business hours as required.

Expected Salary:
$83,000 - $145,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
