Posnack School's Fischer High School is on the lookout for an Associate Director of College Counseling to join their tight-knit and innovative team.

The Associate Director will take on the role of academic advisor for grades 9-11, making prior experience in academic advising within a high school environment a key requirement.


This position is a year-round commitment commencing on July 1, 2024.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Effectively guide, assist, educate, and support students and their families in charting their four-year academic plan and course selection process while monitoring academic progress.
  • Review and revise each student's four-year plan annually in alignment with their college aspirations.
  • Maintain detailed records of student interests, activities, academic advancements, and future aspirations.
  • Oversee course selection and add/drop processes for grades 9-11.
  • Collaborate closely with school counseling, the dean of students, the principal, and the learning resources director to sustain an updated, comprehensive understanding of students.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the Director of College Counseling and the high school leadership team to deliver prompt academic progress reports.
  • Devise, organize, and execute academic advising events and initiatives to educate and aid students and families, alongside the Director of College Counseling.
  • Conduct productive meetings and presentations for classes, parents, and students during crucial stages of the academic planning journey.
  • Assist in coordinating visits by college representatives to the school.
  • Draft comprehensive letters of endorsement for students seeking summer enrichment programs.
  • Undertake any other duties necessary for the smooth functioning of the department.
